Our school vision is for the whole school community to be:

Happy together:

…building relationships that enable children and adults to develop the skills to be lifelong learners and responsible citizens, including resilience, curiosity, independence, tolerance and respect

Growing together:

…creating an environment which is irresistible to learning, where children thrive on challenge, adults are supported and encouraged in their own development and where the best education for all our children is achieved

Aiming high:

…expecting the best of everyone, including children, families, staff, leaders and governors, and ensuring that each child has access to the opportunities and support needed to be the best they can be

Every day a learning adventure:

…through inspirational teaching and a rich engaging curriculum prepare our children for the next stage of their learning adventure!

The way in which we seek to achieve this vision is set out within our ‘Denmead Infant School Curriculum For Learning’. This clearly identifies:

  • Our intent – what we are seeking to achieve for all our children, including our vision, aims and values.
  • Our implementation – the way in which we organise learning including our learning intentions, teaching strategies, organisation and assessment processes.
  • Our impact – how we will evaluate all that we do to provide an inclusive education which ensures that all our children are well prepared for their future learning adventures!

Denmead Infant School Curriculum Impact Statement

Children who leave Denmead Infant School are learners who

  •  have the knowledge and skills they need for the next stage of their learning adventure
  •  reflect on what they have learnt to support new thinking
  •  make links with their prior and current learning within the subject and across the curriculum
  •  are independent and confident in making choices about their learning
  •  show curiosity about the world around them
  •  can work collaboratively with others
  •  show resilience and courage when faced with new learning and challenging situations

Each curriculum area has its own intent and implementation statement. Subject leaders monitor provision and outcomes through learning walks, pupil conferencing and work scrutiny. This therefore ensures that there is High Quality teaching, consistency and access for all across the whole school. They also check that children are acquiring the key knowledge and skills identified within their subject specific progression documents. Subject leaders also create assessment activities which have been designed for teachers to assess and reflect on throughout all learning journeys.

Subject specific Intent and Implementations statements can be found on each subject page.
